Sidekick integration Rubik Combined Listings Swatch

Sidekick is the AI assistant built into your Shopify admin, and Rubik Combined Listings Swatch now works with it directly. Tell Sidekick something like "combine my bags as variants on my store", and it finds the products, opens the app's create page with everything pre-filled, and fills in option values and swatch colors for you. You review the result and click Save. That is the whole flow.

No setup required. The integration works automatically wherever Sidekick is available in your Shopify admin. The first time you ask Sidekick to use the app, it asks for your permission once, and that is it: no tokens, no configuration.

Create a combined listing in plain language

Describe what you want to combine, in your own words. Sidekick knows your catalog, so it finds the right products itself, opens the create form with all of them added, picks an option name (like Color), and fills each product's option value.

Set precise swatch colors from your product photos

Sidekick assigns swatch colors on its own, but you can push it further: ask it to look at the actual product images and set color codes that match what shoppers see in the photos.

Improve the option value names

Not happy with plain "Red" and "Pink"? Ask for names that match your brand voice, and Sidekick renames the values in place, for example Cherry Red and Bubblegum Pink.

Add more products to the open form

While the create form is open, Sidekick can keep working with you: add products you forgot, adjust values, or change colors, all before anything is saved. It can handle up to 25 products per request; for a larger group, just ask it to add the rest in a follow-up.

An example conversation

You: "I want to combine my bags as variants."

Sidekick: finds your five bag products, asks permission to use the app (first time only), and opens the create form with all five added, option name set to Color, and every option value filled.

You: "Analyze the product images and set more precise color codes."

Sidekick: checks each photo and updates the swatch colors to match the real products.

You: click Save. The bags now appear as one listing with clickable swatches on your storefront: colors on collection pages, product images on product pages.

You stay in control

Sidekick never changes your store on its own. Everything it does happens inside the app's create form, staged and visible, exactly as if you had typed it yourself. You can adjust any value by hand, remove products, use the live swatch preview, and only when you click Save is the combined listing created. Close the form and nothing happened.

And to be precise about what a combined listing does: your products are linked to each other, never merged. Each product keeps its own page, URL, inventory, and SEO value. The app simply displays them as one listing with swatches.

Good to know

Draft products can be included. Archived products cannot, matching how the app's own product picker works.
A group can start with one product. You can add more later as your catalog grows.
Custom swatch images are set after saving. If you want a photo inside a swatch instead of a color, save the group first, then use the "Set custom image" button on the group's page. Sidekick will point you there if you ask it for image swatches.
Editing existing groups through Sidekick is not available yet. Sidekick creates new combined listings; to change one that already exists, open it in the app, or connect an assistant through the MCP server, which supports editing today. Sidekick editing is on our roadmap.
Challenge it. If Sidekick does not use a capability on its own, ask directly ("analyze the product images and set precise colors"), and it will.

Sidekick or the MCP server?

Both let AI work with your combined listings, and they complement each other. Sidekick lives inside your Shopify admin, needs zero setup, and is the fastest way to create a combined listing. The MCP server connects external assistants like Claude and covers the full range of the app: creating and editing groups, grouping your whole catalog at once, styling swatches, and changing settings. Use whichever fits the moment; they work on the same groups.

Troubleshooting

Sidekick says it cannot help: phrase the request around combining, for example "combine my ... into one listing with swatches", and make sure the app is installed and you approved the permission prompt.
Sidekick seems stuck on outdated information: start a new Sidekick conversation and ask again.
Some products did not appear in the form: archived products are skipped on purpose, and requests are handled up to 25 products at a time, so ask Sidekick to add the remaining ones.
